Delaware a state in the us located in the Atlantic Coast on the in the Mid-region of the United States has become the 11th state to legalize gay
marriage.
Gov. Jack Markell signed a measure into law Tuesday shortly
after the state Senate approved it Tuesday afternoon.
"I think this is the right thing for Delaware," Markell said after the 12-9 Senate vote. "It took an incredible team effort."
Under the law, members of the clergy don't have to perform same-sex marriages if it goes against their beliefs.
However, business owners who refuse to provide
services to same-sex couples based on their religious convictions could
be sued because of an existing law that bans discrimination based on
sexual orientation.
